Water Sport & Cruises
Water sports and cruises
No trip to the Coromandel is complete without an excursion on Mercury Bay. A short drive in the north-west direction from our boutique Cooks Beach accommodation will take you to Ferry Landing, and just a quick ferry ride to the township of Whitianga places you at the hub of many water activities. Take a fun ride on the famous glass-bottomed boat, sail out to Mercury Island on a 1928 Topsail Schooner or embark on a full-day fishing and diving charter with an experienced skipper.
Located a 15-minute drive from Mercury Ridge is Cathedral Cove, one of the New Zealand’s most photographed natural landmarks. See it from a different perspective with a boat cruise around Cathedral Cove, or hire a sea kayak and cruise through the cove while interacting with local wildlife and exploring the surrounding caves and rock gardens.
Just minutes away in Cooks Beach, you can try paddleboarding or surfcasting, and other nearby Coromandel beaches have their own experiences to offer. If you’re not sure where to start or what’s possible with the weather, we’re more than happy to help guide you in the right direction.

This was the perfect venue for our daughter's wedding. From the panoramic views to the colourful, well-maintained gardens the Mediterranean feel abounds.
